About HeyArenal
I'm passionate about technology and nature, and I've always believed that the best technology is the kind that brings you back to the real world. I'm Juan, and HeyArenal is my small contribution to La Fortuna de San Carlos: so that information about our land is free and reliable, so that tourism leaves its mark on the community and not on the forest, and so that everyone who visits us goes home with more memories than receipts.
How this guide is made
- Only what can be verified. Every place is researched in official sources, operators, news outlets and travel guides, in Spanish and English. Reviews are treated as hints, never as proof that access is permitted.
- Truly free. No admission and nothing you must buy. Transport, parking or optional purchases are spelled out on each page.
- Doubtful places kept apart. If access is uncertain or a critical fact is missing, the place stays under review with what's missing, outside the catalogue and the map.
- Dates in plain sight. Each page shows when the text was updated, when the sources were checked and whether there was an in-person check.
- No ads or affiliates. No business pays to be listed.
What HeyArenal is not
It is not a tourism office, it is not a registered non-profit and it is not backed by any institution. The institutions and organisations mentioned in the guide are sources of information, not project partners.
Photographs
We only use freely licensed photos that show the exact place, with author, licence and year visible. Where there is no suitable photo, we say so.
