Viejo Arenal

Also known as: Viejo Arenal

The site of the old village of Arenal, most of which ended up under the lake. The municipality recommends it as an outing with views of the lake and the volcano.

According to the Tilarán Municipality, it is a pretty place for an outing and the scenery: the lake is visible all along the way and, in some stretches, the volcano. Locals drive from Nuevo Tronadora to Viejo Arenal and Río Chiquito. It is part of the area's history: most of old Arenal ended up underwater when the reservoir was formed.
