Ciudad Quesada Cathedral
Also known as: Catedral de San Carlos Borromeo
A modern concrete-and-steel cathedral opposite the central park. Inside stands a Christ the Redeemer about 7 metres tall by sculptor Édgar Zúñiga.

What you can do for free
- Learn local historySee the concrete-and-steel architecture and, if it is open, the Christ the Redeemer inside.
- Traditions and eventsWatch the Entrada de los Santos during the patron saint festivities (25 October to 4 November, according to the ICT).
Construction began in 1951 (CR Hoy) and it opened as a church in 1979 (San Carlos Digital), the year it was consecrated according to the municipal historical review. Its exterior has stayed much the same since.
In 1980 a Christ the Redeemer about 7 metres tall, by sculptor Édgar Zúñiga, was installed inside. We found no visiting hours: you can only see the inside when the church is open, without interrupting Mass.
Every year, from 25 October to 4 November, the patron saint festivities of San Carlos Borromeo are held, organised by the Diocese of Ciudad Quesada (ICT). During the "Entrada de los Santos", the community watches from the roadside as the saints' images are paraded to the cathedral.
