By bike to El Castillo

The ICT mini-guide suggests renting a bike and riding to a nearby village such as El Castillo or La Guaria. You only pay the rental.

It is about 23 km each way by road, with stretches that may be gravel. It is a ride for people used to cycling long distances. If you want something shorter, the same guide mentions La Guaria, north of La Fortuna.

Step by step

  1. Rent a bike in La Fortuna (paid) and leave early.

  2. El Castillo

Before you set out

  • We found no documented bike lane. Wear a helmet and lights, and take care on the road.
  • Coatis often cross the roads near the national park. Do not feed them.
